Megan is a qualified Herbalist, Nutritionist and Integrated Iridologist, having studied at Nature Care College and Charles Sturt University. She also trained as a Registered Nurse at Royal North Shore Hospital in 1983, specializing in Cancer.

She worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 5 years before having her first child when she developed Hashimotos’ Autoimmune thyroiditis. This triggered her to attend a health farm and exposed her to natural health solutions which she has adhered to, thereby avoiding medication and managing the condition for almost 30 years.

She now specializes in detoxification for Auto-immune disease, women’s health, fertility and preconception care as well as mental health, stress support and pain management. Her main focus is using a comprehensive case analysis to determine the clients toxic load and underlying triggers. From this she develops individual dietary and herbal programs to gently and safely reduce her clients’ toxic burden and regain their optimal health. She also has a strong emphasis on prevention of ill-health, anti-aging and reversing digestive and immune dysfunction.

Megan believes stress and environmental toxicity are the two biggest contributors to the rise in chronic illness today.

When it comes to toxicity we mostly understand when it’s acute – when it causes sudden and definitive symptoms. However, most toxin exposures are chronic, involve more than one toxin, and happen after years, even decades of accumulation. This accumulation overloads the body’s detox pathways and causes symptoms such as:

• Fatigue

• Memory disturbance and brain fog

• Sleep issues

• Pain such as headaches

Over time, if the environmental toxicity and detox pathways aren’t addressed, the toxic burden can lead to conditions like:

• Cancer

• Autoimmune disease

• Neurodegenerative diseases

Over the years, Megan has seen the effects of environmental toxin exposure. Because the symptoms are chronic and multi-system it requires a lot of education to implement lifestyle changes by the practitioner. She has found the best method for helping a client with a chronic condition is to reduce their levels of toxin exposure and improve drainage pathways to bring down their toxic burden.

This involves opening up all the channels of elimination which are often blocked such as the gut, liver, gallbladder and kidneys. The magic happens when clients address their lymphatic system; however, all systems down-stream need to be opened and functioning well beforehand. This is to prevent toxins from being re-circulated. Detoxification of pathogens is not recommended until these drainage pathways are functioning optimally. Hormonal imbalances are resolved with this approach as is weight optimization.

Megan focuses on determining each individual client toxic burden and reducing it through the combination of herbal medicine, nutrition and Infra- red sauna all tailored to the individual presentation. Clients are often surprised to hear that skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema and psoriasis require thorough detoxification as well as determining all the root causes of the condition. This applies to all Auto-immune disease.

She also recognizes that cortisol rises from stress which fuels and inflames the body as well as interfering with other hormones. Hence, calming nervine, anti-anxiety and adaptogen (stress support) herbs are required to support the nervous system. This process also is known to require copious amounts of magnesium. Hence magnesium floats are an amazing supportive adjunct to therapy.
